Birthday Party
On Saturday, we did an 18th birthday party. The party was held at The Fort Gordon Courtyard room. The family was super fun and the birthday girl had tons of friends to celebrate with her. They requested a Jamaican theme and even brought some of their own home cooked foods to share. Everything turned out fabulous, even with the pouring rain we had all evening.

Wordless Wednesday

I know this isn't "wordless", but I am starting a new trend. Every Wednesday, I will post a picture that makes me happy. This week is an engagement picture taken by my good friend, Leah Muse of Whitney Lee Photography in Austin. I just love what she captured in this moment. Brilliant!

Top 10 Reasons to Hire a Party Planner
1. Multi-tasking:You cannot be in 10 different places at once. Having a coordinator is one of the best stress relieving things your can do for yourself and for your event.
2. Enjoy the Occasion:
People always think that they will have time to do all of the last minute details. You won’t have time. Someone has to work on your event day and it shouldn’t be you!
3. Vendor recommendations:
You will have access to your coordinator’s professional vendor recommendations. He or she will also help you interview and make the right choices for you, your event and your budget.
4. Contracts:
Your planner will assist you with contract negotiations and ensure that all contracts are binding and legal.
5. Budget, Budget, Budget!
The dreaded word- but one of the most important of the any event. A coordinator will help you develop a budget and stick to it!
6. Itinerary:
Where is everyone supposed to be and when? A party planner develops a detailed itinerary for you and for your guests so everyone is clear on his or her responsibilities.
7. Advice:
Offers advice as to etiquette and proper decorum for planning the event.
8. Handles Crisis
Whether we like it or not, most big events involve crisis. Event planners know how to handle all unforeseen circumstances, without anyone else knowing it.
9. Event Management:
Someone needs to coordinate all aspects of the day- set up, take down and any little emergencies that may arise. A coordinator’s job is to make everything about the day appear seamless and planned whether it was or not.
10. The details:
Who is going to set up the tables? Who will handle the timing of the food? These and a thousand other details will be the responsibility of your coordinator.

Clearance Items and Creativity

BDE was asked to submit a portfolio to a fellow event planner's office to leave in their waiting room. I was thrilled! I figured I would show you how easily and affordable something like this was accomplished. First, I found this great photo album at Michael's that was on clearance! I also found the cute red flower, that happens to match BDE's theme, also on clearance. Then, I had my portfolio pictures (most can be seen through our main website at www.beautifuldayevents.com) at Walgreen's. This another great way to save money. The prints were only $.19 a piece and were ready within an hour. I next took my trusty glue gun (any DIY person owns one!) and glued the flower petal onto the front cover, as well as a business card. I filled the pages of the book with my pictures using acid-free glue as to not ruin my pictures in the long run. Finally, I took the envelope of a thank you card, cut off the sealing flap, and glued it to the back of the book. Then I put business cards in it as well. And viola! DONE! It looks great and cost me less than $15, total!
BDE has many more great ideas for such products. Contact us for any ideas! We are glad to help!
